Medical Outreach...
Thousands of children in Nicaragua are "blessed" each year to have Dr. Neil Grossnickle and his wife Carole come for several months to head up New Hope's medical outreach to needy children. This couple works "tirelessly" together going from "village to village," doing their best to "minister" to the needs of many children in Nicaragua.
Whether Dr. Neil is examining children in a "remote village," near New Hope's headquarters in the mountain village of El Crucero or flying in a small plane to the most remote area of Nicaragua and then taking a canoe "up or down" the Rio Coco to do his best to "tend to the needs" of Miskito Indian children... he is always reaching out to the many sick children who are urgently requesting his help.
Besides always being there working by his side, his wife Carole examines the eyes of children who need eyeglasses. On each mission's trip the Grossnickles bring with them hundreds of pairs of eyeglasses. If Carole did not provide eye exams and glasses to those children who need them, most likely these boys and girls would never have glasses.
Since most of the time in Nicaragua there are no textbooks, it is important for the children to see what the teacher is writing on the board. Children usual quit school when they can not see the board as there is no way they can do their lessons.
This extra care that New Hope is providing, though it may seem small, is very "big" to these children. It can mean the difference between remaining illiterate and unable to one day provide for themselves or being able to finish school and find work.
New Hope is truly "blessed" to have the Grossnickles heading up New Hopess medical mission outreach. On behalf of the Nicaraguan children, we thank God for Dr. Neil and his wife Carole ANSWERING THE CALL to work with New Hope... FOR THE SAVING OF A GENERATION!
